Most e-commerce strategies focus on getting consistent and reliable conversions. With big sales events like Black Friday, Cyber Monday and lesser known Giving Tuesday, we have to ignore a lot of conventional practices to get the most revenue possible in a short period of time. That doesn’t mean that you have to engage in unsustainable marketing practices or risky ad spending. Follow these tips to get the most out of the craziest weekend of the year and keep your momentum throughout the holiday season.
Test, Test, Test
If you’ve been selling online for a while you know that certain products can be hit or miss. Line up lots of tests ahead of time so you know what is more likely take off as you scale your ad spend.
Meticulously Plan Your Ad Schedule
Once you know what products you’d like to push, plan out your ad schedule so that you scale up your spending to peak on Friday-Monday. This is always effective practice since weekends are the top days for online sales all throughout the year. With Black Friday and Cyber Monday in mind, don’t be afraid to scale up your ads a little bit faster than you normally would.
Create Coupon Codes
Coupon codes are integrated into your seller dashboard. You can create a code for a single campaign or all of your campaigns. Try experimenting with different types of discounts (% off vs $ off) and discount amounts to see what works best for your customers. Warm Up Your Customers
Let your customers know what’s coming. Send out emails to segmented lists with relevant products to let them know when the sale is going to happen. Post similar teasers on your social media or even use it as a way to gather email addresses in exchange for a discount code.
Request a Verified Charity Badge
Just like e-commerce, online charitable giving also skyrockets during the holidays. The day after Cyber Monday is Giving Tuesday – a national fundraising event. We’re introducing a pilot program for sellers to receive a special badge on their campaigns if raising money for charity. To qualify for this badge you must donate at least 15% of your own profits to a verified charity. You must submit a unique application for every campaign you wish to receive the badge for and every charity you wish to raise funds for. To receive your badge, email firstname.lastname@example.org with:
- Your name, email address, and mailing address
- Charity name, address, and EIN Number
- Optionally, a person we can contact at the charity (this will speed up the verification process)
- Campaign ID number you are requesting the badge for
